301-47 Discuss the tapped density of lithium iron phosphate

Since 1997, the lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) with peridot structure has been reported to have the property of reversible lithium delaminate, it has become one of the research hotspots of lithium ion battery anode materials with its characteristic of good safety performance, excellent cycle performance, environmentally friendly, rich source of raw materials and other advantages. The detect of poor conductivity of the material can be improved by covering coating conductive carbon material on the surface, bulk doped high-priced metal ions or fine particles. But the disadvantage of low tapped density is still not solved. So far the density of commercially produced LiFePO4 is generally low. It only reaches about 1.0 g/cm3. It is far below the density of lithium cobalt oxides which is about 2.2 g/cm3. This means that if we want to get the same discharge capacity, LiFePO4-based batteries would be much larger than lithium cobalt-based batteries. So how to improve the tapped density of the material and then increase the specific volume of the material on the base of ensuring the LiFePO4 material’s electrical properties becomes the problem need to be solved for the large-scale commercial application of this material. We usually choose to use the battery special used  LABULK 0335 Tapped Density Tester produced by HMKTest when testing the tapped density of LiFePO4.
